Today Wednesday 16th of November, we launched the first final of our four modules for
walk and chat heath care awareness.
Today my colleague and I bravely took to the streets of Norwich again, temperature of 10 degrees it was yet another cold one for us, however this time we had no station set up  and so no big posters to comfort us.
We walked through the bustling streets of Norwich city center, attempting to speak to the public about Stress the effects on the body,  mind and long term health risks. Unfortunately today was a fairly busy day for the locals with christmas right around the corner, there were thousands of people throughout the city which was exciting as our usual location tends to be fairly moderate.
Though we were in the midst of  thousands of locals today not very many was happy to stop and chat as christmas shopping seemingly stressed them out.  
Due to people being busy, not very many could make it to the meeting,  however I was very amazed by some of the feedback collected from the discussion today and so all round it was definitely a success.
We discussed the main factors of life which causes stress and we narrowed it down to a few main ones being  Education, Finances, Relationships, Family and Work. One of my Feedback questions read “ If there was anything the Government could do to help reduce stress levels for the average person,  what do you think it should be?” One delegate suggested  to appoint a specialist medical professional eg Accountant guidance,  to every business and organisation to be educated advisors to employees, or members on how to Cope  with specific stresses, delegate  believed that if us human beings had the security of knowing there is someone qualified  and experienced than we are is always there to help us to cope with stress it would change our way of thinking and we would be less stressed about issues in life because we would know that we have someone educated to help us. It was also pointed out that having this within businesses would help to break barriers between employer and employee as there would always be a third body there to assist with mediation and helping to understand each other. I do believe that this was suggestion of Gold and that it would help reduce general stress levels for the average person, essentially reducing risk of alzheimer's in the growing population and in that reducing the strain on the health care sector to provide mental health professionals. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported this even over the past four weeks it really has been a success and i look forward to having this event for the next six months, I appreciate all your help and support and of course all the many locals in the community of Norwich who has taken the time to speak to me and share feedback. It has been an amazing experience and i look forward to continue with you guys.

What are the consequences of long-term stress?A little stress every now and then is not something to be concerned about. Ongoing, chronic stress, however, can cause or exacerbate many serious health problems, including:


Alzheimer’s disease is projected to affect 80 million people in the next 20 years, and we’re only in our infancy of understanding the cause(s) of this most common form of dementia. Recent years, however, have brought to light some interesting and links, and researchers are beginning to understand more about how the disease spreads through the brain, and indeed how it may begin. And while there are probably several origins, one of the triggers may be, alarmingly, something many of us experience: Stressful life events.This is essentially causing high numbers of service users suffering from mental illnesses creating a high demand for mental health health care professionals.

Today Wednesday the 10th of November Rainy windy weather temperatures reaching 4 degrees, I could not resist I had to wear welly boots to sustain the rain. My college and I bravely took to the streets of Norwich again to carry on the project Walk and chat Healthcare awareness.
In the meeting today we provided free brunch, buffet included Sandwiches Salad Fruits Juice and  Hot Chocolates with cinnamon waffles on top, oh yes, you should come along on wednesdays to have awareness discussions over brunch with my self  colleagues and other members of our local community .
We covered several of the major aspects surrounding global warming today for example mass production and mass wase and elaborated on the fact that as human beings we concentrate on our own well being here and now and most of the population do not think of the effects on the planet,  which is very sad because the planet sustains our lives and produces all the necessities for our specie to live  healthy and comfortable long lives, in the meeting it was brought up that fruits and vegetables are seasonal and as human beings we should accept and respect  that and eat things seasonally as they were meant to be. This would essentially cause a massive reduction in production rates and in that avoid unnecessary carbon emissions . One delegates from the meeting she rightly highlighted the fact that she was unaware of the many  issues surrounding global warming and wishes that the government would take these issues more seriously and do more to reduce global warming and also should raise more awareness, She suggested that if we were to all do something in our daily lives to reduce global warming then it would benefit the planet and because of the knowledge she gained at the meeting is now seriously considering becoming vegetarian. Other delegates pointed out the man made fish causing distinctions of other sea live creatures, the fish is called LionFish and lives up to its name it eats at a ridiculous rate and reproduces delegate  was definitely uneducated on the topic but was very intrigued and did seek more information about global warming  and due to the meeting coming to an end we referred him to read  BBCs Issue of Planet Earth II. One delegate pointed out a very intriguing fact that in the uk there are double the amount of cars than humans and in china three times more.
Another delegate suggested a game asking members of the meeting what animals and plants they favour and if that animal or plant was about to be extinct how far they would go to protect the lifeline of the specie. Animals that were favoured were Monkeys, Goats, Lions, Pandas, Pink Dolphins and Dogs, Plants that were favoured were Victoria amazonica , Aloe Vera plant, Willow tree,  Each delegate spoke so very passionately about how far they would go to protect their favorite animals and plants  and stressed that the leaders of the world need to make it a priority to breed and preserve life lines.We also discussed what businesses could contribute to global warming , We can Recycle in the office advice employees to walk cycle or bus, avoid wastage, Use no paper if possible and Train the staff member to be efficiently eco friendly.  Collectively everyone in the meeting contributes to help global warming on a daily basis some conscious and some subconsciously, one member recycles, one does not litter, one is already a vegetarian and walks and wishes to live in a cave as it was meant to be, another wishes to live on the beach with only natural resourses, another choses eco friendly Hotels when going on holiday, other members were silent at this question and we left in the hopes that they will create an answer by making small life changes to benefit the planet.

Global warming is the increase of earth’s average surface temperature due to the effect of greenhouse gases. These greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane absorb heat that would otherwise escape from earth. Global warming has emerged has one of the most biggest environmental issue in the two decades.It seems that the temperature is rising at a rate faster than ever before.
Environmental effects in the UK: Floods across the UK in 2007 and the heatwave of 2003 are a stark illustration of the devastating effects that extreme weather events can have. The heatwave during the summer of 2003 resulted in over 2,000 excess deaths across England and Wales, and the 2007 floods caused by heavy rains led to 13 deaths and more than £3 billion pounds worth of damage to the UK infrastructure.
Environmental effects Globally
  • The last two decades of the 20th century have been hottest in the last 400 years, according to climate studies.
  • The Arctic ice is melting rapidly. By 2040 the region is expected to have a completely ice free summer, or even earlier.
  • Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing. Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent.
Tips of things to do during the winter to avoid illnesses caused by the cold weather:
Get a flu shot, wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer, and cough and sneeze into the crook of your elbow, not your hands
The cold weather can cause terrible dry skin  We advise that you use a moisturizer with an oil base to block evaporation. Shower in lukewarm—not hot—water. Use a humidifier to replenish moisture to the skin's top layer.

Older adults are at risk for hypothermia, in which the body's internal temperature falls too low. "Even prolonged exposure to mild cold can cause it,

Another Wednesday at victoria care services as we welcome the winter in, we continue to grow the Walk and Chat health care awareness project. My colleague and I took to the streets again with walk and chat health care awareness on Wednesday 2, November with temperatures dropping to 5 degrees we shivered in our socks and so had soup to warm ourselves up before we went out.Today my colleague and I addressed the UK leaving the EU and how it has affected the health care sector.
The streets were uncharacteristically quiet today, but we reassured ourselves it was due to the weather. There was not a large number of locals going past but we spoke with just about everyone who did, about the UK leaving the EU and got very passionate feedback and opinions on the Brexit topic. This week we have added a new strategy to get more feedback from the public we have asked people to give anonymous feedback which members of the local community seem to have a likeness towards, and  so we will continue to have the option for members of the public leaving feedback anonymously with the hopes of gathering honest opinions on issues we face in health care to improve aspects where the community feels needed.
Today my meeting was very successful as i spoke to  members of our local community about the UK leaving the EU  gaining feedback I gathered members of the local community to come to my seminar delegates were healthcare students from the UEA, potential employees, existing employees  and persons who simply fet strongly about Brexit and was interested to hear of Issues in the Healthcare sector due to the UK leaving the EU. We reached our goals this week as we had a full room of interested persons and had very honest and heartfelt feedback from everyone. We have had quite a few health care students taken interest in the topics addressed and to say the least everyone at the meeting spoke very passionately about the way feel about the UK leaving the EU. Having a look at the feedback gathered it's safe to say that the public generally think that the uk leaving the EU has turned out to be a negative thing and though i must admit the people i speak to have to must have been some sort of open minded to speak to me to start with i can safely say they all had similar opinions and had all been affected by the UK leaving the EU in one way or another and it has all been very much on the negative side of things, some big some small some have been affected by the currency exchange rates, receiving less than they had previously, some have lost room mates due to them having to relocate. It unfortunately is a decision that has already been made i asked the general public if they would consider doing a re vote and thought they would like to return to us being together with the EU it's clear the Britain has suffered some irreversible repercussions and there fore the public feels unsafe and lost for a better option.

UK leaving the EU Walk and Chat Health Care Awareness

Direct effects on the HealthCare Sector

Fact of the day:2016/17 is already set to be a very challenging year for the NHS, with service leaders facing huge financial pressures and performance against key targets deteriorating. In the long term, the most important influence on NHS funding will be the performance of the economy. Before the referendum, HM Treasury stated that a vote to leave the EU would result in ‘an immediate and profound economic shock creating instability and uncertainty’ and that in the longer term the UK ‘would be permanently poorer’ (HM Treasury 2016a, 2016b).

Direct effects:
  • The EU’s policy of freedom of movement and mutual recognition of professional qualifications within the EU means that many health and social care professionals currently working in the UK have come from other EU countries.
  • This includes 55,000 of the NHS’s 1.3 million work force and 80,000 of the 1.3 million workers in the adult social care sector . This has left a gap of 135,000 healthcare professionals in the UK It is widely acknowledged that the NHS is currently struggling to recruit and retain permanent staff.
  • We have argued that additional funding is needed for social care, which has already suffered cuts resulting in around 400,000 fewer people receiving publicly funded social care. If additional funding is not forthcoming, or if promised spending increases do not materialise, the government must be honest with the public about how access to care and standards of care will be affected.
  • Similar problems exist in the social care sector, which has an estimated vacancy rate of 5.4 percent, rising to 7.7 per cent in domiciliary care services. High turnover is also an issue, with an overall turnover rate of 25.4 percent (equating to around 300,000 workers leaving their role each year) (Skills for Care 2015).

With the referendum result now clear, there are many issues at stake that will require the government’s urgent attention. While the immediate focus will be on negotiating favourable terms for trading and working with the EU after Brexit, the impact on health and social care should not be forgotten. If an economic shock materialises, the implications for patients and service users could be profoundly devastating.
